Day 1 — Arrive Paro

Fly into Paro (unforgettable approach). Paro Dzong, National Museum, evening by the river.

Day 2 — Paro to Thimphu

1h drive. Tashichho Dzong, Memorial Chorten, Folk Heritage Museum, Buddha Dordenma. Dinner at a traditional restaurant.

Day 3 — Thimphu to Punakha

3h drive over Dochu La pass (108 chortens, views of Himalayan peaks). Afternoon at Punakha Dzong — the most beautiful fortress in Bhutan.

Day 4 — Back to Paro via Chele La

5h scenic drive. Picnic lunch at Chele La (3,988m). Evening in Paro.

Day 5 — Tiger's Nest + departure

Sunrise hike to Paro Taktsang — 2.5h up, 2h down. Flight out.

Practical

  • Sustainable Development Fee: ₹6,000/person/day (check Bhutan Tourism for current rates).
  • Visa: handled through your travel operator, processed in 3 days.
  • Season: March–May, September–November.

Skip only if...

  • Monsoon (June–August): views often fogged in.
  • Winter (December–February): Tiger's Nest can be icy; add Dochu La snow risk.
