- Mid: 2 fleece tops, 1 down jacket.
- Shell: 1 waterproof jacket.
- Pants: 2 quick-dry trekking pants.
- Feet: 1 good trekking shoe + 1 pair of Crocs/sandals.
- Head: wool beanie, wide-brim hat, sunglasses (UV400).
- Hands: gloves (fleece + waterproof).
The "oh no" items people forget
- Lip balm with SPF — Ladakh's sun is brutal at altitude.
- Moisturiser — humidity is single-digit.
- Reusable water bottle — dehydration drives AMS.
Medicine
- Diamox (consult doctor first) for altitude.
- ORS, paracetamol, anti-diarrhoeal, antiseptic cream.
- Sunscreen SPF 50+, reapply every 2h.
- Any prescription meds in original boxes.
Gear
- Headlamp: power outages are frequent.
- Power bank: cold drains phones fast.
- ID photocopies: for permits.
What to skip
- Heavy denim (cold, slow to dry).
- Cotton t-shirts for trekking (wet = cold).
- Hair dryers (rare outlets, wasted power).
