Indian outbound travel in 2026 looks materially different from 2023. Five observations from our own booking data and Ministry of Tourism reports.
1. Longer trips
Average booking duration is up from 5.3 nights in 2022 to 7.8 in 2026. Work-from-anywhere culture changed the maths.
2. Fewer, deeper destinations
Bookings for "Europe in 10 days" are down 30%. Bookings for "Italy in 10 days" are up. Travellers going deeper per trip.
3. Younger solo female travellers
We've seen a 2.4x increase in solo female bookings since 2023. Particularly to Bali, Georgia, Vietnam, Thailand.
4. WhatsApp-first service expectation
Post-COVID, every traveller expects on-trip WhatsApp access. Email-only operators have lost market share, visibly.
5. Transparent pricing
Package-tour model with hidden upsells is collapsing. All-inclusive, clear-GST pricing has become table stakes. Consumer Affairs Ministry has tightened travel-sector scrutiny.
What hasn't changed
- Peak-season crowding (Bali in July, Alps in August).
- Visa bottlenecks for Schengen and US.
- The love-hate relationship with airport security.
What this means for you
- Book your peak dates early.
- If your operator doesn't have a WhatsApp thread, ask why.
- If the pricing isn't transparent, walk away.
We've been a WhatsApp-first, transparent-pricing operator since 2018. Contact us.
